Korean Phone Number vs Identity Verification
Having mobile data or even a Korean phone number does not automatically mean every Korean identity-verification flow will work.
1. Separate data, SMS and identity
An eSIM can provide data. Some SIMs can receive SMS. Identity verification is a separate requirement tied to how the service validates the user.
2. Read the error before retrying
If the screen asks for carrier identity details rather than a simple SMS code, changing browsers usually will not remove the requirement.
3. Look for a traveler route
Some services provide a global, passport or foreigner-specific flow. Use that when available instead of forcing the domestic signup path.
4. Keep a non-app fallback
For essential transport, food or bookings, know the website, desk, kiosk or in-person alternative before you depend on an app.
App rules, payment flows and transport details can change. Use this as a practical starting point and confirm critical details before you travel.
